The Growing Tide of Discontent

As of this morning’s news online, there are over 25 Roman Catholic parishes who have, in defiance of their bishops, decided to either keep their parishes open and functioning, or, as in the case of Cleveland’s St. Peter’s, decided to rent their own space and continue providing the sacraments for their congregations.  This number does not include Fr. Marek Bozek, Fr. Lawman Chibundi, or myself, since we already left the Roman authority structure years ago.  This is an amazing and wonderful demonstration that the Spirit of God is blowing through the Church right now through the People of God.  And try though he does to undermine all that Vatican II called for, Pope Benedict cannot  now compel Catholics to set their brains aside and follow him into the Catholic Dark Ages of pre-conciliar Catholicism.  The 50 years of teaching and freedom in the spirit of the Council are bearing fruit, and the larger domination system has already fallen to the in-dwelling Christ.  Bravo to all those Catholics who will not acquiesce to the whims of their princely leaders, but continue in the radical spirit of Jesus to feed the poor rather than focusing on institutional real estate and politics.
